Default Magnum motor in a 1st Gen ram

Hey guys i got an 83 w250 with the LA 360 in it now with a 727 tranny and i thought about swaping a different motor in it like say a Magnum from one of the 2nd gen rams and could use some help with the parts i need.
I know the simple stuff like motor, tranny, computer, and wiring harness, but im talkin like mounts and modifications to make it work and fit.

The mag motor will bolt right into your truck with your existing transmission.

If you use the mag fuel injection you will need to notch the bell housing of your current trans for the crank sensor.

If you change to an OD trans you will need a different trans cross member and drive shafts as well (or have your drive shafts modified to fit).

If you use the 727 you need to either 1) use a computer from a truck with a stick, or 2) use an OBD1 computer (still hydraulically controlled transmissions pre OBD2).

i think it depends on what gears and tires you have on the truck. if you got 33's with 3.55 gears then you are better off to keep using the 727. now if you have 33's with 4.10 or 4.56 gears you could probably use the a 518. otherwise it would be jumping out of overdrive all the time which would defeat the purpose of having it. also if you do lots of towing you would be better off to keep the 727 since you have to turn overdrive off when towing. i have 29" tire on my ram charger and it does not take very steep hills to knock it out of overdrive.

Not to jack this thread but from reading this I must not have the 727 because I had OD and it does jump out of OD alot. Ive got 35s with 3.55 gears. 4.10s or 4.56s would fix that?

i think with 35's and a overdrive transmission you might almost be better to go with the 4.56 gears. i think 4.10 gears might almost be a bit too borderline whether it stays in overdrive

i think you should go with the 35's of automatic transmission along with 4.10 gears which are enough for it to boost.

maybe 4.10's and 35's would cut it if he had a 727 automatic transmission but 35's and a automatic overdrive transmission really need 4.56 gears or else there is not point in having a overdrive transmission. plus 4.56 gears would be perfect for offroading and driving down the highway with the over drive transmission.
i have been playing around with the grimmjeeper.

sorry for jumping so far off topic
