Default Big Block swap

Hi ive got a 1985 dodge ram 100 4x4 that has a 318 and a 3 speed tranny which im not sure what it is. Id like to pull the 318 and put in a 440. Is it possible to mount a 440 up to the stock tranny? If not id like to put in a 727 trans but i dont know if it will mount to my stock transfer case. Does anyone know if it will or not. also does anything else have to be changed besides motor mounts. if there is a way to keep my tranny i have now please let me know. Thanks.

No you will need a big block trany, truck motor mounts for the bb. The bb trany will bolt up to your t-case.

You will need a big block 727 (you currently have a 727 but will not fit). To mount your current transfer case you will need to swap the tail housing from the BB trans to the SB trans which entails an entire tear-down and rebuild.

You will need a trans, all the engine brackets, exhaust, a different brake booster, extend a couple wires. You need the specific BB engine mounting brackets and the truck style oil pan and oil pick-up tube and headers as well.

His truck will have the np208 transfer case. A BB 727 will only bolt up to a NP203 so he will have to swap tail shafts as they will not bolt up to the 208 (or 205 or 241)

not really. any adapter would make you have to move your transmission/transfer case back. then you would also have to get custom drive shafts made.

Yes with a JW Ultrabell ...you need to cut the old "bell housing" off from the trans and remove the front pump bolts and bolt it one on...http://www.racewithjw.com/

I'm using one to bolt an A518 to a 505 BB stroker. This will keep the trans in the same place, no mount issues etc.

The bell housing doesn't unbolt from a 727...

The ultra bell is made by the company I provided you the link to. Has nothing to do with GM.

You need to look through their catalog to get the part number...it is also sold on Jegs and Summit
