Rustoleum Paint Job Finished
the picture i posted had factory style tail lights. the new aftermarket tail lights are cheap. i got one on my 81 but it is on the that the box is damaged so it is hard to say how well it fits. it does seem to fit better than the factory with the way the bed was hit. i have been meaning to try one in the undamaged side but have not got around to it yet.
My truck is silver with red inside (1988) and is peeling etc. I want to paint mine or check into how much it would be. I have found out about a paint that is John Deere Blitz Black,1 gallon is $25.00. Google it if interested. I wanted to paint it blue with a white top but red inside. I bought some spray paint this weekend but don't know when/if i will. If anyone is interested check out www.autobody101.com
I used "amazing e-6000" adhesive for the emblems on the last paint job, along with foam camper tape. I just cut the tape to size, and put the glue on each side. It lasted two years perfectly, with no problems at all. This time I used camper tape again but with regular old super glue. If this fails, I'm going back to the e-6000.
What would be your advice on sanding? My 88 has a bad 2nd paint job on it where the painter didn't prepare the surface of the original color well...now it pops off everywhere. I thought about doing this myself but I didn't know what grit to use or what type of sander works best
Any advice?
Thanks

I finished up with a 600 grit I believe. I started out with a 40 on the rough body filler I layed down. Having a sander made life much easier. I used an old craftsman orbital sander, and was satisfied with it. It was a little big to get the smaller spots with, though.

Thanks! I agree. When you drive a 30 year old truck that gets 9 miles to the gallon, you don't need a prissy look.
