What kind of prep cleaner did you use? Where can you get it at?

I used the POR15 products for cleaning and killing the rust. Marine Clean and Prep and Ready.

Crazzywolfie,

So far the POR15 has been working. I followed the instructions and last year treated and painted with black POR15 the top lip of the tailgate that was brown with fine rust (and then painted with primer and white to match last years' color) and after brushing and treating, covered the floor pan with quite a lot of POR15 and even laid fiberglass down first to cover some holes and coated that over and over again with the POR15 paint. I used some of the toothpaste like POR15 for the drip guard around the roof. Wire brushed it out first and treated with with their cleaner and rust killer and then put it in the drip guard like caulking, spreading it liberally in the cracks. So far I haven't had any pealing on any of the places. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. To include when and how to paint over it.

Your truck look awesome. I have been wanting to paint mine but was scared what it would look like. I like how yours turned out so now I am going to do mine. Thanks for posting this thread, lots of good info. Especially the products you used. I can't wait to do mine.

Your truck looks good. One of the better roll-on jobs I have seen. Glad to see that you did the jambs and all. Nothing drives me more nuts than to see a fresh paint job that is a different color than the jambs. If you are going to tackle a project, tackle the whole project.

Where on Earth do you guys buy the decals anyway? I have searched everywhere I can think of looking for new ones for my '78. Ill be repainting soon, and I cant for the life of me, find decals.
