Default Oil Fill Cap For 82 Ram

I have a 1 1/2" diameter tube that runs up off of my valve cover that has a cap on it for filling my oil. The grommet for this tube is a source for my oil to be leaking from. Is this tube just resting in the grommet? To replace the grommet, do I just pull out the tube and pop out the grommet? Is the tube necessary? Can I replace it with an oil cap? Is this the same grommet as the oil breather grommet?

Thanks!

I have a tube on my 87 that came off a police car. Cop cars had them for years.
It turns counter clock wise just like the standard fill cap did. Seals with a gasket.

Thanks! I will give it a try, I just did not want to bust up anything. At the top of the tube is the oil cap, I am tempted to replace the tube and cap with a standard on the valve cover oil cap.

Easier to put oil in with the tube for me.
Don't make as much mess.
