tire size
yeah, all trucks can be different as can the offset on the wheels they all run so that is probably it. I like a smaller offset on my off road wheels than a lot of people go with which is probably why mine didn't rub. PLUS my truck sits kinda high for a stock truck and it MIGHT not be stock height. It might have a 2in lift. I had 33 12.5s and am now on 31 10.5s and I notice NO DIFFERENCE in off roading, but do notice I have quicker handling, better gas mileage, and never wonder if I am going to rub in a high angle situation. I also only use 8in wide wheels where most go 10s or 12in with off road tyres.
I don't do much off roading. Not many place to do that around here. My off road excursions will be on the beach fishing so there isn't a concern with extreme angles. Honestly I wanted to go bigger on tires for looks but I don't want to have to trim the wheel wells to keep from scrubbing just to have a more aggressive stance.

I haven't thought of that. I just don't like the empty space in the wheel wells I guess. I like it when they look full. Personal preference I guess. My neighbor has a 2006 with a 6" lift and 285's on it. You can see the shocks and everything. I just don't like the way it looks. But you make a good point about the added width for the sand.
Standard rule i follow on full size rams for tires up to 12 wide is 2 in lift for 31 in tires 4 in lift for 33 and 6 for 35s anything less and they will rub either turning or flexing on the back edge of the fender
In that case, I am guessing my truck isn't stock like I thought. It had 33 12.5s on it right before I got it, went back to 31 10.5s and they don't come close to rubbing even at extreme angles and compression.
All trucks are different but on the older power wagons and first generation rams 31s will fit under stock height but 2" lift makes it safer 33s need 4 " because of how narrow the wheel well is in my experience
what year truck is it?
