Hello all. I'm new here, introduced myself in the new member area, but I figure this is the place to be

I bought a 1986 D250 yesterday and it's my second Dodge (I used to have a 1998 2500 with a 12 valve Cummins).

It's in decent condition except for the lower part of drivers door which is a little rotten. To the best of my knowledge it's bone stock with a 318/727. It says Royal SE (IIRC) on the RAM badge on the side of the nose but it doesn't mean anything to me.

Where can I look to find out more about this truck? Like what rear etc.

I need to source some parts. Tail lights, mirror glass, high/low beam switch, manual choke conversion (auto choke is gone and it's a little hard to start when it's cold...). Where should I start - eBay?
Also, the seat/sofa has a tear in it in the usual place where the driver slides in and out. Where can I find nice covers?

It's been sitting outside untouched for two years but it cleaned up nicely and I think it's glad to be indoors. Doesn't smell to good inside (boat/camper kinda smell) but I reckon it's gonna be ok once it thoroughly cleaned and dry.

The rearend is likely a Dana 60 with 3.55 gears.

Thanks. How do I identify a Dana 60? My '98 had a Dana 60 up front but I can't recall how it looks.

It's kind of squarish. 12 bolts IIRC and the fill plug will say "Spicer."

usually if you can get it all from 1 warehouse rockauto.com can be fairly cheap for parts.

does the truck have a/c? if so your heater box might be filled with leaves and debris that could cause it to not smell to good. if the truck don't have a/c there is a door you can open and pull this stuff out but if you have a/c you kind of need to make your own door to pull the stuff out unless you want to completely remove the heater box.

also after you replace the dimmer switch(hi/low beam switch) you may want to think about putting the headlights on relays to remove a fair bit of stress off the stock headlight wiring. it also makes your headlights a bit brighter and should prevent them from dimming when the truck is cold.

The rear end could also be a chrysler 9.25. My truck still blows leaves out sometimes, and I don't think its had leaves on it for more than a day in 3 years.

i just cleaned mine out a couple days ago but missed a few.
this is what the heater box looks like if you were to take the top off. you can see the access door in the bottom of the picture and you can see the fresh air hole from the fender to the right. you just have to remove the leaves to the left of the door. the ones above the heater core in the picture would usually just be blown out the vent.

^There any way you could post a picture of where this is at? I've got the leaves. I hear them rattling around in the box when I turn the blower on. And when I'm doing 45+....
