yes. it used the stock switch. you don't have to modify anything in the cab. depending on how you do things you are pretty much just adding wiring and relays up by the rad support. now the only thing is you need to know if you have day time running lights. daytime running lights don't get along with relays but daytime running lights is more of a Canadian thing.

I found a thread somewhere that showed how to do it step by step but more info is always better. I appreciate it

sls001 posted a link to a good DIY on page 1. i also posted a wiring diagram in post 12 of how i wired the replays in my ramcharger. it cost about the same as just putting the headlights on relays except when i turn my highs on the lows stay on and you get a lot more light.

I remember my Dad doing that on his 41 Chevy in the late 40'S.
Brightened the lights noticeably even on the 6 volt system.

Yep, Ohms law doesn't quit working at different voltages, and I will say to crazy, I saw that post and was going to do it but figured I would do it the simple (and legal) way first LOL!.

yes, in all 50 states. And if caught doing it in Cali it is a $350.00 ticket, ask me how I know! My 1972 BMW Bavaria (right drive European model) had a switch that allowed that. It was called an Autobahn switch. It had a bunch of cool other electrical features too, like when parked, you put the turn signal switch for the road side on and it left that sides parking lamps only on and at half brightness! Anyway, when you put the headlights on on dip (dim) only the low beams were on. If you put them on high, both high and low beams were on if the switch was on. If the switch was off, only the high beams in each position were on. I got caught dipping (blinking my brights at him for not dipping his brights) a cop one night and he pulled me over for my headlights being too bright. I got a ticket when I showed him the switch since I was ignorant of it being illegal in the US.

i don't think that is quite the law. i think if what i found is correct those things had 4 lights up front instead of the 2 that most vehicles have. using the 2 stock bulbs i doubt a cop would know the difference since it is just 1 light per side instead of 2 where it becomes more obvious.
