Ground up re wiring.
I have searched the forum and have not found a thread on this subject. If I did miss it could some one point me in the right direction. My 1984 w 150 318 2 bbl has been hacked and chopped so badly that I cant tell witch is way is right any more . Is there any manufactur that makes a replacemtent harness or if I want to make it brand new will I have to just run my own wires . Im talking all new wires . Has any one ever attempted this ????
no one sells aftermarket harness for these thing. you will just have to repair what is there. if i had the time and money to do it i would customize the harness. i started installing a power distribution center in my 81 but due to money limitation i never really got to finish it
what page? 12-20? if so i think that is kind of an error on the haynes manual's part. there is 2 difference ignition system used between 81 and 88. the one they show for 81-84 is for the lean burn system and most trucks use the 4 pin ignition system. this is the diagram that should be there that you probably need
Thank u. For the correction. And it would also help if I would have made sure my ground wires on my battery had a good connection. I brushed the terminals off and ran all new wire and now it seems to be acting normal. But there is still a problem in the fuse box. I have to move it around in my hand in order to get my wipers and turn signals to work. ... But at least its running smooth now at idle.
well with old truck one of the biggest problems you run into is just bad connections. i know i have fixed my share of bad connections and upgraded certain things just to make it reliable. something you may want to look into as far as upgrades goes is putting your headlights on relays. it can make them noticeably brighter and should save you from ever having to replace the headlight switch or dimmer switch connector. i know by the time i put the headlight in my 81 on relays you could tell the dimmer switch connector had seen some heat.
