360 timing
I've got an 88 ram with a 360 in it not sure what year of 360 but I am having one hell of a time getting this thing timed correctly I have a timing light I get it to spec tighten that clamp on the distributor and almost after 5-10 mins of driving its out again. Any tips to tightening it or am I doing some thin wrong? Seems like it lets off when it gets hot so the distributor moves not sure tho. Any help is appreciated
usually it is on the passenger side of the engine. runs between the vacuum advance mechanism on the distributor and the carb somewhere. when you disconnect it you have to block the vacuum line or port so that you don't have a vacuum leak. if you check the timing when cold and then check it when hot it will move. you need to set it when the truck is at operating temp.
Thanks! Probably common knowledge but this had me stumped. I'm doing this truck for my dad because he can't crawl around any more like he use to. On another note I'm putting stock valve covers on cause the guy before put some eldabrock ones on that doesn't have a pvc valve on it
are you 100% sure it it TBI? if it is TBI then you most likely have a 318 since they didn't TBI the 360's until 89.
