Default Rear main seal

Rear main seal would not budge so I ordered a KD-492 tool. I have loosened the bearing caps and screwed in the tool with the large ring at the end. Crank was rotated while pulling on the screw in tool. It will not budge. Tapped on opposite end while pulling on tool and the ring starts to straighten out. Reshape ring and use a pair of pliers just above ring and pull and the tool comes out of the rear main seal. Same thing on other side. Any thoughts besides pulling crank?

How loose are your caps? Loose enough to know that the pressure from the crank is off of the seal? It wouldn't be my first choice, but, I have seen people add a little heat to the area of the rear main, to soften the rubber. I would avoid that unless I had the crank loose enough to get the rear bearing out. The bearing is made of a fairly soft material and the added heat would likely damage it.
