Default 91 D150 Shortbed with 3.9 V6

All: I already have a good running 1986 D-150 Shortbed and a 1990 D-150 Longbed (daily driver) but I came upon a 1991 D-150 Shortbed with a 3.9 V6 and I am looking for opinions on this version since my other two are 318s. The guy wants $1500 and it appears to be in great condition with little rust, working AC, auto, new brakes and nearly new tires.

So do any of you have the 3.9 and what do you think of it? I dont really need another truck but its hard to pass up something that looks this good and I would only use it for local parts runs etc.

For what its worth, its red with a tan vinyl interior and rubber floor mats, dog dish hub caps and steel wheels so its a utility version. I think I need an intervention.

Hope you will like the truck and will get it. You may want to post on the Dakota page about the motor since more of those trucks have those motors. Keep posting about it

My 89' D-100 has that engine with the 4 speed with OD, I bought the truck quite cheap a little less than a year ago on Craigslist, running and have only replaced the spark plug wires and plugs. It's a pretty fun truck to drive, in my opinion.

How is the transmission? Mine makes a noise in every gear but 4th and noise when out of gear and clutch out. If clutch is pushed in no noise. Some people have said it is the throwout bearing. It is not as bad now at times

I have not noticed any noises coming from mine. Sometimes when I try to put it in reverse from a stand-still it just grinds as if the clutch was not in, I'm not too sure what could be causing it but other than that it seems to be running strong.

Mine is hard/grinds going into reverse also. I just put it in od/5ththen reverse. Someone told me need to go though all 5 gears before reverse. Going into 1st is most of the time hard
