Good morning all. its great to be here, I've been reading all morning. My trany stopped working after parking it, it now has no 2nd or drive gears only rev. and 1st. My ? is, will a new filter fix this or will a !978 trany fit my 88 or how hard is it to swap the tail shafts from my burnt 4x4 to a 2x4 auto on the street thanks

 

I think an 4x4 727 will swap in. But to do the tail shaft, I think the trans has to come totally apart.

 

An older one will only swap so long as it did not have the np203 transfer case.

You have an NP241 on your truck now and they do not share the same bolt pattern as the NP203

 

Hi jopar your best bet is to look for an np208 or np241

 

727 is a good trans very strong
