Default 1990 w150 auto trans shifts into reverse Hard

Other than normal trans mounts being worn and allowing movement, are there and adjustments that can be made to ease the shifting hard into reverse? Shifts through all gears fine but solid hit in rev.

No mods that i am aware of, trying to avoid a complete rebuild if there was any kind of adjustment that could be made.

Verify the TV cable is adjusted properly, and maybe adjust the bands....... aside from that, not sure there is anything else you can do.

HeyYou, I have found that my truck does not appear to have a TV cable, but rather a kick down rod from carb to trans. The rod has a little movement at carb which translates to a lot of movement on the transmission end. I have removed the rod and pivots to look for wear on the pivots but have noticed that the slotted long bracket that runs from the rod to the carb has the slotted end at the rod pivot facing the firewall...all pictures I can find show other versions of this setup with cables or rods with the slotted bracket at the carb shaft end???
Which is correct for my model? 1990 W150, 318 auto with kick down rod.
thanks for any insight, pictures. If this rod is supposed to move with the throttle movement but has slop which delays it could be the cause of the trans issues.

On that, I don't know...... I am much more familiar with the 2nd gens. Hopefully, someone with a clue will be along soon.
