Default 318 to 360 swap

Hi, I am new engine rebuilds. I have a 1991 dodge w250 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive with an automatic transmission. It originally started with a 318 but the heads were cracked and the cylinders rusted out. I wanted to rebuild with a same year 360 gas with a manual transmission.

I am in need of some help starting this project. Some questions I am asking is can I just pull a tranny and 360 out of a same year dodge and put it in with the clutch pedal? Will the engine bolt up to the mounts? Will I need to change the wire system and computer? Whatever anyone knows about this will help an extreme amount. Thank you.

you may need a new computer and flywheel since the 360 is externally balanced but otherwise things are pretty much the same.

So if I just pulled the block and tranny out of a totaled truck from the same year all I will need to change would be the computer in it?

ya. harnesses are the exact same for the v8's just the computers different. if you got a complete totaled truck from the same year you could swap everything over if you wanted.

ya physically they are the same size. that is why the head and intakes will interchange between the 318's and 360's.

Is there just one computer for the engine transmission and everything else or are there multiple different computers for different part of the truck?

Thank so much wolfie one last question. Do you know the range that dodge had the same 360 as other years because for most other trucks they changed the engine every couple years. I was just wondering what the range is for the 91 V8 360
