I put a spark plug in the wire and set it on the exhaust manifold and turned it over and could visibly see a heavy blue spark. I thought the same thing that maybe the coil went out.
Ok, so, you have good spark. Pull the air cleaner, look down the throttle bore, and crank the throttle open. Do you see gas squirt from the accelerator pump nozzles?
Update: I checked it last night (by myself) and could have swore I had spark, I went ahead and bought a new coil today and swapped it out. Still no start, so I thought I would try checking for spark again, placed a spark plug in the plug wire and sit it on the exhaust manifold....ZERO spark!! I though it was fuel related but I can see gas squirting into the intake and now no spark....frustrated, feel like I'm chasing my tail here. Now I guess I will start researching no spark. Keep you posted.
have you tried hooking the main coil wire to the a plug and see if you got spark at the coil? do you know what ignition system you have?
I hooked the spark plug to the coil and no spark there either, and not to sound too stupid explaining the ignition system.....when I take the cap off the dizzy it has a star thing under the rotor button that looks to me like it passes an photo eye of some sort.
that is an electronic ignition distributor. that star thing is the reluctor and the thing that the wires hook to is the pickup coil. have you checked to see if you are getting power to the coil with the key on?
So I think I may have found the issue.....The ignition control box is leaking crap out of it all down the firewall. Can't believe I didn't see this earlier. Ever seen this before. Oh, and crazzywolfie I do have power to the coil.
never seen it happen on the vehicle but seen it before. usually caused by heat. it doesn't mean it is dead but it definitely does not look pretty like that. you might need a heat gun to help you scrape that stuff off the firewall. you can try checking the casing of the ignition module to see if it is grounded properly with a multi meter. the casing needs to be grounded in order for it to run.
