I have a 1990 power ram 5.2l 318 with 10k miles since the engine was rebuilt i started it up and it has completely no oil pressure so I pulled the valve cover to make sure it was a faulty sensor and still no oil pressure so I pulled the oil pan and checked the oil pump and it's still in good working condition it was replaced when the engine was rebuilt so I checked the shaft and it spins with the engine so I put it all back together with new 5 qts of oil and a new filter and still no oil pressure any ideas???
have you checked with a mechanical gauge? when in doubt i always go old school. mechanical oil pressure gauges are cheap and let you see exactly what the oil pressure is doing.
Does it sound like like dry lifters? Check dipstick when its warmed up should be thin and high on it. Old trick for oil pressure problems is put 1 qrt of tranny fluid in.
