No, It's a two wire installation. Black goes to the negative on the coil and you need a positive to go to the igniter and coil. You have two "hot" wires coming from the ignition, One is hot only during cranking and the other during run. I don't have the instructions but i would imaging it's wired the same way as the stock wiring(ballast resistor). You will need to take the distributor apart and put on the parts that come in the kit.
