Default 89 Dodge D100 MOM NEEDS HELP

Okay so I have a 1989 Dodge Ram d100 3.9 and it
will start for a second but immediately die after. I
can keep pressing the gas pedal really fast and it’ll
hardly stay running. I have replaced the fuel pump ,
spark plugs, and looked at the injectors on the throttle body. I cannot
figure it out and need it fixed very soon. It was
running fine when I parked it but 30 minutes later it
started acting like I described. Please help, mom
trying to help my son with his truck

Do you have any codes? If you keep your foot on the gas steady will it stay running?

Thanks for the reply, there are no codes, wish there was that would make my job a little easier LOL. And when you push on the gas steadily it just dies on you again you have to constantly smash the pedal repeatedly very fast to even keep it running and when it is running it’s not running well. Now if I have somebody crank it over and I spray starting fluid in it just very little just kind a pulse the starting fluid into the throttlebody it’ll stay running and the idol smoothies out like it’s like it’s starving for gas

i would almost guess it might be the hall effect sensor in the distributor since you have already replaced the fuel pump.

Did you look down the throttle body when it's running and see if both injectors are working? It's time to start testing things to figure out what the issue is. Check the fuel pressure, You should have changed the fuel filter when you replaced the pump. Put a timing light on the coil wire to see if you have a good spark.

I’m actually waiting on someone to come check fuel pressure now... we did replace the fuel filter when we put the new pump in.. looks like to me both injectors are spraying, unfortunately I think the left if not spraying as much as the right one... could be making a run to auto store to buy a new injector

If you are going to replace one, replace them both. They both live in the same environment, so, if one is failing, its a pretty good bet the other one ain't far behind.
