Default 1974 w200 Dead Spot

im fairly new to carbs. On my 1974 w200 it has a Holley 2 barrel. When it starts up it will idle fine, when I give it throttle it bogs down and tries to die then will rev way up. I had acquired this pickup from my grandpa. He once talked about drilling the jets out to run it on alcohol but not sure if that ever happened. Any help to figure out what I need to do to get rid of the “dead spot” would be greatly appreciated.

TIA, Ethan

is this with the engine cold? does it get better once the engine has warmed up? have you checked the accelerator pump? generally if the accelerator pump is not working like it should it can cause a dead spot since it's job is to ad a bit of fuel while accelerating. if the truck has done a lot of sitting that is most likely they issue.

It doesn’t seem to get any better/worse when engine gets warmed up. I have been through the carb and everything seems to look okay. How does one check the acceleration pump?

Once the engine is warm nothing seems to be any different. I have been through the carb and all looks good. When I give it throttle I can see the streams of fuel spraying in the carb.

Push the throttle open by hand SLOWLY. You should see a continuous stream of gas from the accel jets. If it is inconsistent, then need to rebuild carb. If it has been sitting for quite a while, probably wouldn't hurt to just go thru it in any event.

If the stream is steady do you guys think i should still put new jets in? I’ve been through the carb just haven’t put new jets in. Anyone have an idea where I can get jets for that specific carb?

how long are you running or driving the truck to get the engine warm? did you replaced the accelerator pump when you had the carb apart?

How do I know how much of a steam there should be? Looks pretty decent to me. Engine usually runs for a good 10-20 minutes before I checked it
