best to run the vin and get a build sheet unless the sticker is still on the hood. you use to be able to get them online but it looks like dodge has changed their website so you can't but you should still be able to call a dealer or email dodge to get it.between 88-93 there was so many changes it is hard to tell which trans it might have. i think there is 4 different auto transmissions available in that time period.

I think there was only two for 360, the overdrive A500 was an option. If you have the overdrive switch on the dash then that's what you have. Other wise it's 727.

Ya I have the overdrive button on there... I’m gonna try running some vin numbers and that stuff before I jump to a specific tranny...

A500 is my best guess, given the year. You could rebuild what you have, might be hard to come up with a good A500 in the jyard - and having someone rebuild one for you will likely make you want to junk the truck
Here is a video, I'm sure there are others out there...

All, is it possible to put a 1990s model generation #2 transmission (46RE?) in a generation one body w/ a 5.9L (360)?

I have a cousin who I'm trying to help out. He cracked his bell housing on his transmission.

Not easily. I don't know of anyone that makes a standalone controller for the trans. 46RH should be findable though.......

So a 46RH should install seamlessly in the 1988?

We are illiterate of the old D350.

I am pretty sure that's what it came with..... (so long as it's a 5.9 gas, not diesel.)
