Thumbs up Extra dirty fuel tank 73 D100

I think I saw info on here about cleaning sediment out of tanks. I have an original plastic tank that I replaced with an original tank off another truck. I want to clean the old one out and make it available to somebody who needs an original tank. Any recommendations on how to clean the tank?. By the way, this is a 73 club cab with 17k orignal miles and is very Cherry. Had my mechanic check it out and he agrees it's legit. Just got it back on the road after waiting all winter to begin working on it again. Engine is tight and it runs great. Fun truck to drive and boy does it get the stares, especially from the folks who understand what it is. Like riding in a time capsule with the AM radio on and turned to oldies. Think I may install an 8 track

Great running oldie

Very Nice. But, can you even FIND 8 tracks any more????? I don't think I have even seen one in over a decade.

Rinse the tank with some kind of degreaser/solvent. Then rinse that out...... Seal it up, (duct tape over the holes....) and call it good.

if you got access to a cement mixer you could probably cleaned it out with some parts cleaner and a couple handfuls of nuts.

Gee, love the idea but it would be tough with a tank that is 6 ft long. Got me thinking though. Somebody needs this tank.

it really isn't that tough. while they may be long they are lite. you could try filling it with cleaning vinegar and water and let it sit. should help break down any crud or rust in the tank but shouldn't hurt the plastic.

Apple cider vinegar works great, let it soak.
