93 getreg trany and fluid levels when towing
I had a chat with someone as they said the 5 speed needs to be over filled through the gear shifter by adding an extra quart then reinstalling the gear shifter.
I don't usually take anything as gospel unless I know of the person quite well and is a proven source of info. So here I am posting up to you all for your input and perhaps we can all learn by reading the responses ?
My truck is a 93 extra cab, cummins 5speed and I will be towing 4500lbs through the mountains.

Nice way to stay on top of the fluid level
I simply overfilled by a set quantity... and then periodically checked at the fill plug (every engine oil change or two) that there was still excess oil wanting to come out. Not the best way to maintain an overfill I know.
What I recently ran into was the amount metal in the oil. And I had no idea until I emptied the trans. I think 5th gear is failing on me.
