Default 87 Dodge D150 Axle Ratio???

I've Decoded the Vin only to find out that it doesn't say Anything about Axle Ratio. The sticker on the lip of the hood is blank from 32 years of baking in the Texas heat, And the tag on the Axle is gone. So how would I go about finding out what my Axle Ratio is???

I've been told that the only two ratios were 2.76:1 or 3.23:1 but that doesn't sound right to me. any help would definitely be appreciated.

Most likely it's 3.55, All the dodge trucks Ive owned had them.

most likely 3.23 it was the most common gear ration in trucks without overdrive.

Hmm, well it's got a freshly rebuilt A727 awesome transmission. And the thing is I've got an 89 Ford with 3.55s and the Dodge is snappy off the line like the Ford. Both have similar displacements. But I've heard that before, that the most common is 3.23:1 is it unheard of for it to have a 3.55:1

You can pull the cover off the differential and count the teeth on the ring gear. The numbers can be referenced on the ring gear to tell you what ratio you have also. Trucks in the 80's also had 3.21 gearing too. Dodge had a wide variety of ratios available even though just a few are common.

you could have 3.55's or 3.73 or 4.10. it really depends on the truck and what it was built for. just the most common gear ratio was 3.23 before they got the overdrive transmission. 3.55 gears were the most common size with overdrive. you can still have power off the line with 3.23 gears. it is also possible the ford has 3.21 gears or something like that. i know my dads ford does but he has the standard transmission in his truck.

I just had a thought (really!!!). Is the data plate still in the drivers door opening? It should have all the informaton on the truck. Possibly there is a body data sticker in the glove box.

Hmm, Good point I didn't even think about the Glove Box that's a good call Amigo!!! as for the plate it's there but I didn't see anything that could be construed as an Axle Code. So I'll check the Glove Box and relay back to you what I find out.

It may be indicated by a latter like X or G or what ever. I've seen some vehicles with a data sticker under the hood. You'd have to decode it though.
