A904 capability

A904 capability
I picked up a 318 for 250$ and I'm going to stroke it to 390ci ... This is my first build and I want to know if the A904 can reliably handle the 390ci for daily driving. I plan on having the TF-2 shift kit put into it already. Is there anything else that is a "must"? Or would I get better driveability out of a 727 for TF-2 in it? I honestly don't know the drivable difference between the two transmissions.

probably better off going with a 727 unless the 904 has been built to handle power. 727 is stronger stock than the 904 stock. if you are going to have to do a trans swap and want better driveablity and something good for daily driving you may want to look at the 46RH. overdrive makes a huge difference but would also allow you to re-gear the rear axle to make the truck more fun but still be able to drive it on the highway if you want. i know i was kind of forced to rebuild the axle on my elcamino and while it made it more fun around town without overdrive it sucks on the highway with the engine running at about 2500-3000 just doing speed limits.

cheaper to just buy a 46RH and have it built to handle whatever power you want to throw at it. plus it you want to waste money on a gear vender overdrive it would be more badass behind a 4 speed auto so you can 8 gears plus lockup torque converter. the 727 and 46RH are almost identical other than the overdrive unit and the 46H has been around long enough it should be able to handle anything a 390 can throw at it.
