What Transmision should I get.
I have a 93 d250 with a 5.9L 12V.
My truck has 327,000 miles. I bought it used about 6 years ago and it is a daily driver. It is all stock and I don’t plan on doing anything major to other then 4” pipe and maybe a little bit bigger turbo at some point. I do pull a trail at least once a week. The Transmision needs rebuilt or replaced and that is why I am here. Other then swapping a couple Transmision I have not done much with them but am willing to rebuild it. I just want to get the most bang for my buck and wanted to see what others have done.

nothing wrong with a 46RH unless you want something different. you just have to find a good shop that will rebuild it properly. they are good transmission when rebuilt properly. helped install one in my buddies truck that is suppose to be good for up to 500hp and i think the truck is currently around 300hp with the injectors/turbo that are on it right now.

Not sure it would stand up behind a diesel...... or did it come stock that way??
Another option would be the NV5600...... if you wanted a manual.

those are 2nd gen transmissions. first gens only had the 46H which came without the lockup torque converter. a 47RH requires quite a bit of work and money to swap in.

This is the parts list you will need to do the swap.1. Engine adapter plate from 1994-1997 this is the plate from between the engine and trans, it needs to be changed because the 47RH or 47RE lock up torque converter is an inch taller than the non lockup converters. Engine plate mounting hardware is the same so you just need the plate.
2. Starter from same above 1994 - 1997 47RH auto truck, has 1 inch longer clutch bend-ix to reach the different torque converter.
3. Drive shaft will need to be have the front section shortened 1 inch due to the 1 inch longer trans engine adapter plate
4. 47RH Trans with built up parts and low stall lockup converter, I used the BD, it works amazing, and does not shift shock at all.
5. Rear trans to frame mount will need to be re-drilled on the frame rail 1" inch further back to allow for the 1" longer engine trans adapter plate, hence the shorter front section of the drive shaft.

there is already a 46rh in the truck bolted to the engine. there is a diesel version and a gas version just like the NV4500. no different than the 36RH(727) that is found behind the earlier diesels. there is a gas version and a diesel version. this is the list of stuff needed to hook a 47rh to the engine. sounds like $1k in parts/pieces plus the cost of the transmission itself.
