Default Swapping

Hello, I have recently started a project in which I am using a 96 2500 frame that had a gas engine in it. I am taking that frame and putting a 89 12v in it with a first gen cab. I am wondering what would be recommended for a fuel cell and delivery. Whether or not I can use the original gas tank and pump or whether I should put the one from the 89? Thanks for any info

i feel this would be a waste of effort. what is wrong with the 89's frame? would likely be cheaper and easier to replace a frame with another 88-93 frame than it would be to even make a 1st gen cab mount safely on a 2nd gen frame. i have seen a 2nd gen cab on a 1st gen frame and the mounts are way off. luckily it was on a pull truck so don't have to worry about it going down the road safely.

Well the 89 is only a 2 wheel deal and I’ve got time so gonna give it a go. Nothing a bit of fabrications can’t handle.

you may need to know the local laws but there is a good chance what you want to do may not be able to be made street legal or not easily. it is pretty easy to convert a truck from 2wd to 4x4 if that is what you want but it is usually just as easy to find a 4x4 frame unless you got a crew cab. on top of that the 2nd gen 4x4's as also known for their death wobble.
