Default Fuel sending unit

I have a 1985 Ram D350 Chassis cab, and it has a bad fuel sending unit. I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to replace the fuel sending unit without dropping the tank?

Two options, Drop the tank or remove the bed. I have seen people cut the bed floor but that doesn't make much scene to me.

As previously mentioned either drop the tank or remove the bed, I removed the bed on my 89 d100 so we could get it worked on and repainted.
