Default Sparkplug Recs for 1983 318 LA Engine?

Time to do plugs and wires for my 1983 W250 - what are the desired plugs for this year truck? Currently, it has AC R44 XLS Plugs - the two I pulled looked like the truck was running quite lean with fairly large gaps. Not looking for fancy plugs, just reliable and a known plug that works well with the 318 -thanks!

Champion coppers are what came in it from the factory. Basically, any good copper plug will work just fine.

Thanks, I was guessing copper is the way to go - seems like the quality has dropped over the years - Champion still good or other brand preferred? The last Ford I had pointed me to Autolights - not sure about Dodge and what brand seems to work best

I am personally not a fan of Champions.... I use A/C Delco, or Autolites generally. But yeah, copper is certainly the way to go.

Thanks Hey You - I think I will stay with the Delcos - I think Champion quality has been up and down a lot

have used Champions for years and years. people beat this subject to death.. plugs are a wear item and are cheap. Champion #404 or 405 has always done fine in LA 318s for me. Have had many of those engines and still do. ACDelcos in a Mopar DO NOT work.... if you want a squeal in your speakers with the radio on go ahead and run ACs...... every stinkin time I have tried ACs that has been the result.
the only "premium" plug I have ever tried were the Champion "truck" plugs, that they no longer make (wish they did) Platinum, iridium are a waste on tehse engines.
