This sensor near the Tstat housing drivers side near front of engine on my new to me 1983 W250 with 318 engine - no lines connected (?) what is this - looks like it is a coolant fed circuit but to where? Carb?

Label on my inner driverside front wheel identifies it as "CCEV" and shows vac to front of carb (I see where that has been capped off) and the other vac line to the vacuum advance which is probably pulling manifold vac somewhere. Ah the mysteries of a new vehicle . . .
