I am in Maryland and could you keep me in mind should you decide to let the 360 go?
You are getting the PCM, and wiring harness with the viper motor, all the intake all the exhaust, and all the exhaust sensors? Cats as well?
Else I would assume you work at Canaveral or Goddard Space Flight Center? Space X?
I would turn you away if this is a first time fabrication project. The first gen brakes and suspension are totally inadequate for that kind of power. The rear would be iffy as well.
You could be looking at a north of $20K project. Way north.
the fabrication needed to drop a viper motor in is minor. the hard parts to find would likely be the brake/clutch pedal assembly for a hydraulic clutch since i think they only made them for 4 year and there is a possibility you may have to move the bulkhead connector to install that hydraulic master cylinder since you have a 88 cab. on the newer cabs the bulkhead connector got moved over.
With a D100 do you have the smaller wheels stud circle and brake set up?
Someone has already put some money into your 360. Carb, intake headers cam. Nice body as well. Why not sort it out? What do the timing slips say? A lot of good video out there on LA engines.
Where do you want to go with the truck, what is your budget, and what are your skill and shop abilities?
I too am considering a 518 swap for my 87 D150. Because the trans is recently rebuilt and free to me, and my 727 may be a bit tired after 33 years. And fabbing a rear cross member-engine mount doable. Driveshafts are easy. Add new U joints.
But then you add, resealing bottom of engine and new rear main seal. Reseal and possibly rebush trans pump, and a torque converter, trans filter exterior and interior, and a cooler.
That is $800. You can burn some money in projects that start off as free.
Make your parts, machine, and fabrication budget, and check it thrice, then get some other eyes to double check it.
