Default Anyone Know Any Good Pulley Sets?

While browsing around and finishing up knick knacks for the timing chain job I’m trying to kind wither a good known brand of stock type pulleys, or a simple ‘replacement set’ but most of what I’m finding is all $150+ “performance” sets or serpentine belt conversion kits.

Anyone had experience with this before or could point in a general direction?

Well... here’s the odd thing... whenever I had posted about the crookedness of the harmonic balancer, belt issues and the alignment of the alternator; it was never truly solved. It simply reached a conclusion that was within the specs of the service manual. “Check/ adjust belt tension every 7,500 miles.” Which is about the mileage interval that a squeal becomes faintly present again, and gradually worsens if I ignore it at that point. While doing some cleaning of the engine in preparation for my timing chain endeavor I realized that my water pump pulley, and crank pulleys have a little wiggle to them. I plan to clean/check them for straightness when I take them off during that job. And in the event that they are bent up I’d like to have the ability to find a suitable replacement.

hypothesis -

water pump pulley is probably worn water pump shaft, or corrosion between pump and pulley? Remove, inspect, repair if able, or replace.

crank pulley seemed fine before but I didn’t actually check it in anyway at the time. Just slung it back together cause I had time constraints at the time.
remove, inspect, repair or replace. If the crank pulley IS square and straight, that would be indicative of my cheap aftermarket replacement damper being of poor quality control, thus needing to be replaced. (Presently the harmonic balance spins square and true, but pulley itself is off slightly)

I was more or less just curious if anyone’s seen this sort of thing on other late 70’s through late 80’s small blocks. And if so, what were the commonly use replacements or the process others have used to straighten/flatten the pulleys.

If I were to take and load them up in a press and flat plates, (similar to a stamping process) if that may be enough to square up the mounting faces 🤔

I don't think I have ever had to replace a pulley, that hadn't been damaged in a collision..... No clue if you can buy them over the counter...... I've never had to....

fair enough... I guess disassembly will tell the tale. My thought would be that if the mounting flange is a little off. Squeezing it in a press between 2 1” plates until plate sits flush on both planes of the pulley would be as close as I’ll get if I even NEED to do anything 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have a look, see what ya got, take it from there. If you actually NEED to replace any, check the local junkyards, or car-part.com can generally find just about anything for ya.
