Gotta be one or the other, loss of fuel, or loss of fire.

I parked the truck and went to put the air cleaner back on and noticed the fuel filter was almost completely empty.
Could be vapor lock or possible weak pump. I had a fairly new pump partially brake the spring inside. It would run the motor but not produce enough flow. If it's an original pump might want to replace it. If you mount the fuel filter vertically it will allow the air to go up and not get trapped.

I went over all the wires and made sure everything was tight and the grounds were good, then went out at night and ran it to see if I saw any spark jumping around and nothing.
Then I went under the truck and traced the fuel lines, and they look fine not rotted and no signs of any leaks. Today I went onto Advanced Auto parts website and saw they only wanted $24 for a new fuel pump, so I figured worth a try. I put it on and ran they truck around the yard for 45 minutes and no stalling. SUCCESS!!!!

I can’t thank you all enough for all your advice and input.
Happy Holidays

Glad you found the issue. If the pump is fairly new and not NOS, it ought to be the last you have to deal with the problem. Older ones sitting on the shelf don't like the E-10 gasoline most of us get.

no lean burn on trucks yet in 78.

I sure hope it's the last time i will have to deal with that issue, I ran the truck around the yard today just to make sure and she rans perfect no stalling, I hope to get through a few more winters with her, while I try to find a nicer dodge pickup to put the plow on.
