My Thermoquad is getting worse (leaking, etc) and it may just be more cost efficient to replace with a new Edelbrock, etc. Is anyone out there running an updated carb that they actually like? If so, please share, thanks! I would like to be able to use my stock air cleaner etc. -thanks again!
I might go that path but with the leaking welch plugs, phenolics issue etc I am not certain I want to go down that rabbit hole - I have a quote from an excellent local builder for 400.00 . . . Really curious if anyone has used Edelbrock 1806 (supposed to be a good replacement) or other that works well.

Looks to be a great replacement, according to reviews, however, I am unable to find anyone that actually has one in stock.
I am not a fan of thermoquads, They have to many needle valves and things that wear. I been using Holly's forever and they have one for every possible need.
holley makes some pretty decent carbs but they usually get pretty bad fuel mileage most of the time. i don't remember the holley 670 street avenger getting over 15mpg even when doing straight highway driving and about 5-9mpg in town lol.
holleys have always sucked for me. I have better luck with Carter (that's who made the Thermoquad) and the AFB which became the original Edelbrock carb. Always have. Got some Holley stories (for later) that will make it tough for me to ever consider a Holley carb. (and yes I know they made several different models)
They made more then several different models. I have a holley book that tells you what the carb is depending on the list #, I used it to hunt down used ones at the swap meets. Holley gets a bad rap because people use an improper carb for their engine/use and blame the manufacture.
