No Fire To Coil, Turning Over Great 1993 Dodge D150
#13
I'm a novice mechanic, so bear with me. I'm getting power on pin 30, 85, 86 of the ASD relay using my test light. Pin 85 clicks something on inside the wiring harness & the test light is much dimmer ( this may be normal ). No power on Pin 87 . I initially thought that the fuel pump was coming on, but there is something clicking towards the back of the bed ( near the bumper ) when I turn the key on. I should be hearing the fuel pump kick on in the vicinity where the cab & bed meet I believe. If so, I'm not hearing the fuel pump kick on like I originally thought. I could find no fuse between the PCM & ASD relay. I'm seeing the 4 relays on the sidewall & the fuse box located under the steering column. Yes, the cab light, radio, cluster lights, low oil light, check brakes light, door open alarm all come on. I've replaced the distributor pick up coil already. My understanding is that the coil provides power to the distributor, so if I'm not getting power to the coil, the distributor wouldn't be the issue. Thanks again for all of your help. I'm not going to give up on this.

You should use a meter since it's more accurate than the a test light. Pin 85 is a ground and the light will feed back through the relay dimming it. When you made the test remove the relay first then check for power at 30,86,You should have power. with the relay in place and ignition on you should have power at 30,86 and 87. 87 will go to the ignition coil. Also keep in mind the pcm will shut off the asd relay after the ignition is on after a minuet or so (not sure of the exact amount of time) If the engine is not running. So hook up the test leads then turn the ignition on for the test. Since you have no power at 87 try swapping the relay. Also you can test if the pcm is supplying a ground at pin 85. I don't have the wiring for a 95 so going from this...

Hammer6950 : How is your repair going? I see you started this thread in May and it is July now. I'm in a similar position with a '93 5.2L W150... I have fuel pressure ... but no spark at the plug... I need to test my ignition coil next... Obviously, I'm very interested in what you've discovered. Thanks.
Update 7/11/2022: after taking my distributor cap of, it was cracked on the firewall side at 4. Replaced the camshaft position sensor inside the disti, the rotor, disti cap, wires and plugs. Replaced the coil (but my old one was ok, just the wire to it looked corroded.
Fired right up.
