Default Anyone using Holley Brawler 4 Barrel on 318?

I am giving up on my Thermoquad, it has a crack in bowl and lets face it, it is old ('83 vintage) and will not go the rebuild route through the known carb rebuild vendors. I am thinking about the Holley Brawler in 600-650 cfm with electric choke setup. Anyone currently running this carb? Happy with the performance? My Dodge truck is an '83 4x4 w250 -thanks

I would use a holley spread bore(I put one on my power wagon). With the price of gas why waste more than you need to. Vac secondaries, Can't use mechanical unless you have really high gear axles(engine will bog).

the only thing that sucks about holley is the fuel mileage. had a 670 holley street avenger on my 81 and it ran good and always started as long as there was power in the battery even at freezing cold temps

Street avenger is not a spread bore so fuel mileage will suffer. When i built my motor i took into consideration that it doesn't have OD so running at highway speeds you are up at 3K. For a standard carb that's using more fuel than it needs to that's why i chose a spread bore. Doesn't use as much fuel cursing but still has the power when you get on it. I also used a MSD6A witch helped a bit.

doesn't matter that much. didn't really get much better even with fuel injections. heck even my ramcharger only got slightly better fuel mileage on the highway but around town they got early identical fuel mileage.

@Champion I’m interested in the science behind why a spread bore gives better gas mileage.

Because the primaries are smaller. You only open the secondaries when you are stepping on it pretty hard.
