Default No spark

Hey all I recently replaced distributor cap and rotor on my 75 d100 /6 and there is no spark whats so ever. I may have gotten the order wrong on the cap but I would think there would still be spark even if its in the wrong order. This leads me to believe its the button thats failing. How do I diagnose? This is my first time working with a distributor.

thanks

Usually, cap and rotor are replaced together. Are you getting spark from the coil?

Unplug the coil wire from the distributor, stick a spark plug in there, and ground it on the engine somewhere. (DO NOT use your hand to hold it in place. ) Have someone else crank the engine, see if you get spark at the plug.

Witch ballast resistor do you have? 2 or 4 terminal, Inspect the connections and make sure they aren't heating up(bad connection). Verify you have power going into it in both crank and run.
