Default 440

I am looking for a 440 to put in my 82 Ram. I need to know how to search junkyards for just an engine in my area (New Mexico).

When you go to the junkyard, ask the owner if they have anything and then ask where it is in the yard. Most junkyards group cars/parts by the make of the car.

A lot of the junk yards have search features on their websites, you tell them what you want and they tell you where to get it.

That's true everywhere I've been too - six million Chevies and Fords, no Dodges. I've seen TWO older Rams driving down the freeway still being used hard after obviously being rolled. People hang on to their Rams

I live in central NC and it's the same way for me too. I see at least 20 different 1st gen. Rams every day, not including mine and three others at my school. They never die.

I have two myself... My dad has a ram and a ramcharger, and enough parts to rebuild both 3 times, but he only has 318's and i dont want smallblocks any more. I am thinking about buying a brand new short block, PAW has them, but they are so expensive... You can find Chevy 454 blocks anywhere and they are cheap. There is a place not too far from here that has 5 of them rebuilt and he only wants $600 each. I know of some places back home in indiana and michigan that will definatly have them, but getting them to new mexico is the problem.

scour the classifieds looking for old big-*** cars and rip the motor out then sell the sheet metal for scrap.
