I'm putting a 5.9 from an 02 Ram into a 98 Ram that had a 5.2. my question is the 02 tranny has a 4 pin plug next to the shifting linkage and the 98 has a 3 pin. My question is what is the 4th wire on the 02 for?

It change from just a park/neutral/reverse switch, to a 'transmission range sensor'. Which trans are you using? There are other changes as well.
