Default UPDATE Dies after getting hot, 20 minutes

UPDATE- I found out more about the issue. First of all it doesn't sound like it's the ECM because of the location. 4 years ago, the mechanic who diagnosed the problem said the part was designed to shut off the engine to keep other parts from being damaged? It was located under the truck or someplace with possible rusty bolts which would make removal more difficult and expensive. That's why my friend parked the truck. Once the truck cools off it starts. OK MOPAR guys, what's your best guess? I really want to get this truck reliable so I can have some artistic fun with it.

I inherited 1993 D250 from my 80 year old friend. I'm new to Mopars. He parked the truck about 4 years ago after he was having an issue with it dying after driving for about 20 minutes. He thought it has something to do with the engine getting warmed up but not overheating. He did get the issue diagnosed but never fixed it. Now I have the truck, he can't remember what the fix was suppose to be. All he remembers is the part cost about $200.
Any ideas?

Is that the 3.9 magnum engine??

If so, check the connector at the PCM. When it dies, give it a push and a wiggle, see if it'll start.

Distributor pick up or coil is all that is coming to mind, Neither of which cost $200. May be a fuel pump but that's not related to "warming up". Test and see what you find.

That's a classic heat soak issue. On older vehicles, I'd say the brain box was failing. I'm trying to remember where the computer on these is located

Thank you for the advice, if you or someone else can remember the location that would help a lot.

Your truck has a different body than my '96, but the engines are the same family. This is the computer on my '96.

It's the black box with all the wires going to it. I'd check the wires and see if any are loose.
