Cummins is longer and heavier, and been done many times over. Really can't see it being a problem.

I'm sure it can be done. However, a Cummins is longer but not as wide an engine. It's also much heavier than any engine the truck was designed for.

You would be surprised how wide the cummins is with its jewelry. The V10 is a lengthened 360.

I have a 74 parts truck that the Cummins has been removed from. Also a 2wd ramcharger project with a cummins sitting in it. Its just Lego and little bit of cut'n'paste. The 2ndgen rad is going to be installed in one of my 75-90 rad supports, haven't decided which one yet.

Most of my B.O.O.B. driving is with a Powerstroke but I don't think the early 70's Cummins engine in a Dodge light truck was the same as the late 80's engines.

The 70s factory diesel? That was a Mitsubishi 6DR5 but that was also in 1978 and 1979 I believe. It must've been a swap at some point to have a Cummins in a 1974?

I compiled some engine weights, All are supposed to be with accessories. Not sure about the Cummings.
mopar LA 360 ~~~~~550
mopar big blocks ~~~670
Old hemis~~~~~~~~765
Dodge truck V10~~~ 836
Cummins ~~~~~~~~1,071
Since the Cumming was installed in the first gens(90's) and front ends where for the most part the same. I don't think it would be to big a deal to make it work(weight wise).

I'd say that's a very safe weight for reference I thought they were more like 8-900. I look at the difference between a 360 and a Cummins is like a snowplow hanging off the front. People do that all the time and don't blink an eye, but you talk about putting a Cummins in a 1500 and people loose their marbles. Even though its lighter than a plow and that weight is over/behind the front axle not 5ft off the front. Check out a snow commander front suspension.

Snow plows are heavier than you might think. I recently bought an F-350 Superduty with the 7.3 Powerstroke and a Boss RT3 Vee blade plow.

The truck is a major hauler but it knows something is back there. The blade long with the hydraulics are about 1700 pounds. I think the braces still on the truck are around 200-300 pounds. So that's close to a ton in front.

By the way, anybody that needs a snow plow, it's for sale. I don't like shoveling my own sidewalk. I'm not about to plow parking lots.

I just have to ask, was that plow really on that truck?

I once had a E250 3/4 ton van that had factory 1 ton suspension on it .... Father in law has a chevy 3/4 ton with 1 ton suspension ..... it is a common thing for the dealers to do.
Father pulls a 5th wheel trailer with 1 ton suspension and pays taxes on a 3/4 ton truck. .... It is a option customers like.

So your truck is a heavy duty 1 ton .... is that 1.5 ton suspension or a 2 ton?
That plow looks like it should be on a semi truck platform like the big dump trucks the cities use. ..... That plow is huge!
