Default 5.9 Magnum Swap Transmission Options

Hey yall, I’m new here and I have a couple questions that I’m trying to find some answers to.

I am building a mega truck/mud bog truck

What I am currently working with is a 1989 W150 on a 2nd gen frame with 2.5 ton axles, a drop transfer case and a carbed 5.9 magnum.

I am looking for information on what would be my best option for a transmission. Needs to be 2wd (for awd) and would like to keep the truck automatic. would also like to be hydraulic instead of electronic. truck doesn’t have crazy horse power but would like a strong transmission. inclined to building the transmission. just need to know what core would be the best and easiest to bolt to the 5.9 magnum.

Thank Yall in advance

So far as I know, the bolt pattern is the same. Gotta have the right flexplate though, 5.9 magnum is externally balanced. You want the 96 and up flexplate, as the balance weights are on that, previously, they were on the torque converter. That lets you use a neutral balance converter, which opens up the range of options for ya.
