The transducer on the 4?RE series trans is just just a gear driven signal generator. I wouldn't be at al surprised if one of 'em wouldn't just bolt right into you older trans... and work just fine. Just need the right driven gear for your gear ratio/tire size.

I’m currently running a 727 so transmission control should not be a problem.
Where is the trans that come with it? Do you have a speedo now? I would put a 46RE in, Overdrive is mandatory in my book.

a 2wd cab and engine was put into a 4x4 short box frame. Mix and match it all. I hear ya, I have to many project cars and overdrive hasn’t hit my list of priorities lol.

yes my Speedo works clip on cable driven. Doesn’t totally fit in the dash cluster. They moved mounting holes around for fun.

If you drive on the freeway with 3.55 gears you will be doing 3K rpms just to keep up. Clip on cable driven? I would have to agree with HayYou, Compare the two.

This is the old cable style.

If you look at the early 91-92 design it's the same as the cable driven.

That’s awesome information. I’ll have to crawl under my truck and take a look for what I have going on.

You can make obd2 swap it bit you would likely need a hotwire harness and to have the computer flashed acording to your needs. Unless you have done some major mods it really isnt worth the money.
also if your truck has the factory transfer case for a 93 i believe you should be able to swap to a 46re if needed. Just have to use the factory transfer case for a 93.
