get right to it. i use hayes 4b-4 page and it states on tbi system i have 4 relays on fender. i seem to be missing the part throttle unlock relay. i have a 91 dodge ram250 truck , coil mounted on firewall btw. is this optional relay? 2. fuel pump mysteriously quit over winter just sitting, tested 83159 asd relay and have 12v on 30 red wire, 12 v on 2 blue 86 wire , 87a is cropped off at factory, 87 is green black and 85 blue yellow, i got 90 ohms on relay coil 86-85,good, and 30-87 is normally open and that was good. i also bench tested relay and it was good. is their a fuel pump relay and if so where. the 4b-4 page shows a fuel injected system also and it is in the row of relays for that engine. 3. their is 3 connectors under the hood hinge that arent used a 2 wire green/brown and 2 black , a L shape connector 2 blue,black/white,green,and pink wires, and then one identical to asd at 87 blue/white.30 blue,86 2 blue,85 2 orange/black is this fuel pump relay or part throttle unlock relay or just a test port. 4 fuel pump itself 4 wire connector green/black,blue/yellow,2 white that go to 1 white spliced, i assume the white is ground. it looks like green/black goes to orange wire on pump and 1 of the whites goes to black wire on the pump. the blue/yellow and other white wire goes to sending unit. so if i put 12v to green wire and ground white wire pump should come on. I have removed pump already.would like to bench test it to see if i messed it up with jumper wires
updated i guess i dont have a lock up torque converter or a solenoid on tranny for part time relay . it is 5.2 v 8
done more test , look at other post and put 12v to pos on ignition coil by removing wire and jumping to battery positive, got power to fuel pump harness . yea so since asd relay is good the logical is ground to relay coil of asd, so ran ground wire to 85 on asd and got 12v at fuel pump. time being i run like this since their is no power to 2 blue wires 86 til u turn key on. the blue yellow wire which is providing the ground seems to go to single board engine controller is this the pcm by battery and if so does that mean my pcm might be bad . i did test with starting fluid some months ago and it sputtered. please advise
The asd realy is used for the fuel pump. If you have power at the + on the ignition coil the pump should be running. As you see 87 on the asd relay powers the coil, injectors and fuel pump. What transmission do you have? 3 speed (727) will have the unlock relay. If it's the overdrive trans it will not. See in the diagram below.
fuel pump running after i grounded blue yellow wire on asd to fender. but now the injectors on tbi arent getting ground ,only 12v on green blk wires . the tan and white/green ground wires are dead. only runs when i pour gas in carb . here is deagram i been using
i grounded the tbi injectors thinking that they should open wide and flood the carb since the pcm is supposed to send a pulse ground signal to injectors and it did nothing. Does this mean the injectors are stuck or does it just acknowledge a pulse ground.
i had to send pcm to florida to be rebuilt for 150 dollars ,they no longer sell the 91 pcm. while pcm was in florida getting repaired i bought a new fuel pump and tested it by putting 12v to the green black wire going to asd relay which energized the coil, fuel pump circuit and it pumped gas (i took line off carb and ran hose in plastic bottle to not make mess. thanks for info i will refer to this thread for wiring diagram.
