Default Steering wheel grime

not a technical question but my steering wheel has that black grime that comes off on your hands when driving, I've cleaned it but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Any of y'all know how to "fix" that? figured id ask before settling for a wheel cover or something. Thanks!

I've done several tings that worked fairly well. I had a 1974 Camaro that has=d a pretty nasty steering wheel and the cure for that was to run it through the dish washer. However, if you have controls on the wheel, this might ruin them. Dawn dishwashing detergent and a scrub brush worked on a different car. Fast Orange has a pump action hand cleaner that does pretty well too. It makes my hands kissy sweet too!

A lot depends on the year and other details on your truck like cruise control and so on.

Did not consider the dishwasher lmao. But perfect I've got no wheel controls so i'll give it a shot then some good elbow grease otherwise. Many thanks!

The Camaros of that era used the puffy vinyl steering wheels. If your steering wheel is weathered it may make it worse.

Good point... I'll navigate carefully, worst case scenario I take a trip to a scrap yard

What year is the truck? I have an extra steering wheel that’s beautiful but it might not be the right one for you.

Those are very different from mine. Mine’s 10 years earlier.
