What are some cheap options for bolt on horsepower for a TBI 318?

Stay away from Summit (which are Pacesetter) headers. They tend to crack quickly. A lot of the 2nd gen guys have had problems with them. Go with a good quality header like Gibson or JBA.

Also...stay away from the Jet Chips! They're useless The computer (as primitive as it is prior to the magnum motors) will still learn it's way around the chip. You're better off spending the money on a decent cam.

We are talking about 1st Gen. and Summit Racing sucks so bad then why have I had no problems with them. No cracks in the headers, Jet Chip increased my horsepower and torque. No problems. I guess my Uncle 1969 Chevy Camaro SS with alot of Summit Racing part on his car sucks because he's have had no problems with it and it only runs high 12's.

1st gen...2nd gen..doesn't matter. They're still pacesetter headers

I never said summit racing sucks, but their headers do (at least their truck ones...because they use Pacesetter as their manufacturer).

And do you have DYNO proof that it increased your horsepower and torque? There are a lot of mods that can "increase" it in your mind...and in your butt. But the dyno is the only place that counts

The only proof I have right now is the same Z28 I race when I got the truck stock bet me by 3 cars. I race him the other day after I put the chip in and all the other parts (Headers) I bet him by 1 1/2 cars. All I have done to my truck is Summit Racing Headers dual to a Dynomax H-pipe muffler, 4.10 gears, Accel Cap and Rotor, Accel 8.5mm Wire, Accel Plugs, Jet 160 degree themostat, and a Jet Stage 2 Chip.

That's a weaksauce z28 then, or he wasn't really racing. You've got a chip, exhaust, gears, and a t-stat that isn't letting your engine hit proper operating temps. Yeah, it's faster than stock, but it should take a lot more than that to beat a v8 pony/muscle car.

Z28 are not that fast. It's olny a Chevy and the newer ones only have a LT1. I eat Mustangs GT all day with there 4.6L. So far the only Mustang that bet me was my buddies 1994 Ford Mustang GT with the 5.0, BBK X-pipe, BBK headers, with 3.73 gears. Oh yeah I forgot the 2001 Firebird Formual 350 with a LS1. Me and him are side by side off the line intill second gear, he has a shift kit that kicks hard and then he take me on power. And last time I checked my truck runs pretty damn good and all Cyl. at 160 and has 140000 miles. I see no problems here.

And about the Summit Racing header. My buddy Nick has had them on his truck for about 4 years and no problems.

Check your A/F ratio when you put it on a dyno. 160 is below the warmup threshold and
oh nevermind. Yeah your 4000 lb truck smokes 3000 lb cars with more power all day long, I'm sorry.

PS I beat a 911 in my Bronco once. Bone stock Bronco I might add. Just because they get on it doesn't mean anything other than you are a better driver.
