This post is all about Napa and their outrageous price difference. So my Dad's friends chevy silverado 1500 needed a new mass air flow sensor or something like that so he went to the Napa store. They would order it and sell it to him with no extra shipping cost for $50.00. He then decided to go to the autozone, they had the same damm part, same manufacturer for the same truck for $30.00!!! Why is Napa so damm expensive????

 

Typically Napa has better quality parts than some of the other stores, and prices are higher as a result. Were the part numbers identical for the two places? Some manufacturers have similar parts but they're actually not the same one. NAPA has a 10% discount for AAA members. Or go to napa's website, print out the price of the item, and go to the store and see if they'll match it.

 

Same part from the same manufacturer, it even had the same part number in the company catalog.

 

Why does a dealer sell part X for $38 when you could go online to their internet parts website and get it for $27?

 

Pays to shop around. I can probably get the same part you did, online, for even less than Autozone. The problem with autozone is you will eventually get burned with poor quality parts and the price difference will be of little interest when you have to replace something like an in tank fuel pump 6 times and have to drop the tank all 6 times.
When I need parts and it's not an emergency I check about 8-10 places for price, brand and warranty. also if you have a Checker/Kragen etc Auto parts store in town they will beat Autozones price by 5% for the same part. Just did that on a pitman arm.

 

We have a Autozone, NAPA, Advanced Auto and three dealerships we can get parts from around here. Of course the dealers are expensive but can find hard parts easier.

 

As I had mentioned in another topic on this forum, my mechanic said i needed a fuel pump, and he said NAPAs price was 635. I looked online and found one for 135, shipping included. Thats a big difference! same serial number. same part.

 

Your mechanic will also mark the price up, as well as NAPA's markup. Napaonline's currently got them for $100, give or take a little.
