Default 3.5 R/T AWD After market "chips" for horse power increase $8

Has anyone installed one of these piece of wire with a little plastic so called resistoron them in their Avenger. I bought one but I hesitate to install it as it directs you to unhook the battery and I am afraid all the electronic programming (radio, handsfree phone, garage door opener, etc.) programming will be lost. Further, does it work?
