Go buy an engine scanner from your local parts store. Mine was around $130, and works on all my vehicles (96 and up). The good ones will give you the codes, and tell you in plain english what they mean.

Turn your ignition key from the off to the ACC position three times in and in place of the odometer will cycle the codes... Use your favorite search engine to lookup the code.
