Default Oil Light "flickers" at idle

I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger R/T with the 3.5L.

I checked my oil this morning and noticed I was a quart low. I added a quart of 10W-30, and ever since, the oil light comes on and dings (doesn't flash) at idle (roughly 700RPM). It kind of comes on and off at random intervals and flickers, and it's not the light, it chimes too.

Did I maybe put too much oil in and now, at idle, I'm getting lower oil pressure, but just enough to trigger the oil light?

I would hook up a pressure gauge or replace the oil pressure switch if you want to go the easy way.

I had this happen on a 2002 Town & Country. It was the engine oil sending unit. Was not hard to replace but had to put it on a lift to change. No problems after change. Good luck..

It was the pressure sending unit. It had gotten so bad because I put it off that it was leaking onto the belt and caused it to slip off and tear the belt to shreds, and damage the compressor pulley in the process.

Truth be told, this is actually a 2007 sebring limited, but the sebring and avenger (at least from 2007 onward) are sister cars and use all the same parts, save for the body. Figured someone in this forum would know better, which y'all did.
